A Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Correctional Facility, under general medical direction is in charge of and performs technical work in a small clinical laboratory or may also work in a large clinical laboratory under the direction of a supervising clinical laboratory technologist and placed in charge of a specialized laboratory unit or act as a general assistant to the supervisor and give technical direction to other technologists and assistants.
Provides technical assistance to and training of Clinical Laboratory Technologists-Correctional Facility, Laboratory Assistants-Correctional Facility, inmates and other personnel assigned to the laboratory.
Oversees and performs actual laboratory test procedures: chemical analysis of blood, urine, spinal fluid, and other body fluids; blood counts and specialized hematological procedures; assists in acquisition and handling of laboratory special case procedures (HIV tests, P.C. 296, protective custody). Troubleshoots instrument failure, unsatisfactory test results, quality control problems
Supervises implementation and documentation of quality control, linearity, and new test/new instrument procedures. Also responsible for preventive maintenance and record keeping for equipment.
Prepares requisitions for equipment and supplies. Evaluates and updates semi-annual and annual contracts for standards, controls and reagents.
Write and maintain Policy and Procedure Manuals. Serves as safety/risk management coordinator for the clinical laboratory. Consults with the Laboratory Supervisor and the Laboratory Director/Pathologist
Possession of a valid California State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or a license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health Services

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
